These two guys were watching those red shoes as the couple came out of Baja Fresh and crossed the street in front of them.

More Discovery Park
This little hummer held its own in a tiff with another one. Then they both rested. Now what do humming birds have to fight about, I wonder?

Swallow Swoop
Evening feeding on insects all about the meadow. They are so swift, I'm genuinely surprised I captured this shot.

Here is a more complete photo of the convention center arch, and enormous structure that covers Pike Street for over a block.

More Tuscany Apartments: Stucco Relief Decoration
've never seen this sort of ornamentation before. Does anyone know what this technique is called or how it is achieved?

Detail of Tilework Around Groundfloor Cafeteria Window
I noticed students form Northwest School heading into this cafeteria for what looks like some good eats at lunchtime.

Bus Stop on a Steep Street
The art is level, but the sidewalk slopes downhill. . . A colorfully painted bus shelter brightens spirits in the First Hill neighborhood.

The Sorento Hotel
A seven story 4 star hotel at the top of First Hill, a welcome change from tourist areas and a quieter setting than downtown.

Broadway Dance Step Hesitation
Dancing in the streets is a popular pastime on Broadway in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Curious, but not wanting to look too stupid, we stand and look at the Fox Trot Weave steps outside the restaurant where we ate dinner. (There are 8 different sets of dance steps along a two block section of Broadway, made and installed in the sidewalk by a sculpture inspired by the old Arther Murray dance studio intructions, and enjoyed by the neighborhood for many years).

Elongated Hexagon

There are theories about modern artists and architects having been affected by Froeber's kindergarten "gifts" or materials, such as pattern blocks or parquet tiles/mosaic pieces. However they came by their geometric influences, 30s through 70s architecture has a futuristic and decidedly bold take. Perahps Bucky Fulleresque?
